A finance meeting is held annually, accounts are audited. The audit must be completed before the 30th September following the year end.
On completion of the audit a Notice of Conclusion of Audit is posted on the Parish Council notice board and on this website for 14 days. The Statement of Accounts and Auditor’s Certificate and Report can be obtained, inspected or a copy taken by arrangement with the Clerk at a specified address and and specified times.
The main purpose of the finance committee is to set a budget for the forthcoming financial year and to set a precept – this is the amount of money the council requires ratepayers in St Merryn to pay towards the running costs of the council for the forthcoming year. This amount is shown separately on the Council Tax demand sent out by Cornwall Council.
It is also a requirement to publish the Annual CIL Report which is submitted to Cornwall Council.
